I'm curious too... I haven't seen one personally, most folks get a camera that supports an external mic and get the audio over that way.

I wonder if its any better than the cameras, when I listen to the audio on my camera on the garage, birds are tweeting in the AM but it is pretty distorted and unintelligible compared to what it really sounded like. Might just be my setup.

If your NVR has a audio in jack, then yes you can use that mic.

Make sure that you have turned off the noise filter in the cams gui, that might explain the garbled bird tweets.
