Best practices for adding DAHUA camera to account that is not CONNECTED TO NVR?

Hi, I am new to Dahua cameras.

I have a new Dahua system I am getting ready to install for a client. 8 cameras will be connected to the NVR and I have an additional 2 Dahua cameras that will be on the same LAN but NOT CONNECTED to the NVR. How do I add these latter 2 cameras (that ARE not connected to the NVR) so that they are combined into the one account with the other cameras connected to the NVR so that all cameras are viewed visible in the app / account?

Thanks!

If this is 16 (or more) channel NVR You can add those cams to NVR (by camera -> camera list -> search device and then selecting them and add) even when they are connected to LAN (not NVR POE ports)...

If this NVR is only 8 channel, replace it with 16 channel version..

before adding cams to Your network check what ip have NVR - if 192.168.1.108 change it to something else in Your network...
Then You can add/connect ONE (no more) Dahua cam to Your network, it will get default address 192.168.1.108. You must connect to cam (via camera web panel, via Dahua Tool, via NVR camera list menu) and CHANGE this IP to something else in this network.. Then You can connect second camera, which will also get default address 192.168.1.108 which also must be changed...

each IP address must be unique.

in case of cameras connected to NVR POE ports, you can connect them at once.. NVR will configure them automatically.

I think he’s talking about adding them to the account in DMSS. Yes I would think so, you will have to add the 2 cameras individually by IP address but using the same account as the NVR

Thank you both for the very detailed responses. This helps immensely. It looks like I should be able to do it. I really appreciate the help Steve (and Redfish).
