I'm running BI at home off a PC and have an internal drive capturing all the videos. I'm always an over thinker and wanted to know if there is a somewhat mid-level/range method to further backup the videos just in case of a break-in. I have my CPU in the basement in the corner, but it's not secured in a rack or anything. I'm not looking to spend a lot and wanted to pick some brains out there to see if there's an economic/DIY to backup video footage at the soonest possible. (I get it that during a breakin if they go straight to the CPU and do whatever I'm outta luck), any thoughts on maybe hiding an external drive somewhere else in the house? Not sure.. Wanted to check. But keeping costs down.. ha

I use Dahua NVRs everywhere, and in almost all installations I locate NVR somewhere near to TV (mostly TV in Living room) to give ability see 3x3 camera Live view + AI event Live panel on TV by simple pressing button on TV Remote.
This location makes them an easy target for theft.

I always put SD-cards into cameras as second place of backup.
Only Endurance ones (designed for 24/7 writing scenario), normal/Android/picture storage ones will fail after a few months.
Usually I choose Samsung PRO Endurance 256GB...

In the past I used 24/7 recording mode in cameras and NVR.
But now I use motion/event activated recording on camera (plus 24/7 recording on NVR).
This in 95% cases gives You something like year of motion/event activated recording on camera (plus around one month of 24/7 on NVR).

I found that in many cases helps when You need recording older that one-two month You have on NVR.

This is great idea, I'll have to confirm they have MicroSD card slots they're fairly old (cmip3042) then climb up back to my cameras on the eves of the house though. But very good idea - and assuming you can pull the video from the camera SD card remotely.
