Getting the hang of it

When on cellular it won’t connect.
When on any non-home WiFi it won’t connect.
But when I’m connected to my home WiFi it connects right away.

I’m sure it’s something simple, but I just don’t know what.

Any help is appreciated!

Did your WAN (public) IP change?
Did your modem/router get changed out or reset?

WAN IP could have changed.
This is actually an install at my son’s house. I have both his (new) and my system (many years) on my app. Mine has never had an issue connecting from anywhere . But connecting to his only works when I’m on his WiFi.

Shouldn’t the app look up the IP address using the “lookup key“ especially if set to lookup each time?

It wont last long an your routers default WAn address.
you need to run thru something like tailscale vpn.

I’m not using any vpn on my system that has worked great for years and still does. It is the second system that only connects when we are on that system’s network.

Your sons internet provider may not allow open ports or it is not set up in the Windoze firewall and or router.
In my case, I use AT&T and Tmobile wireless for home internet and they do not allow open ports. Tailscale and Zerotier take care of that problem.
You can also use one of the port checker websites to see if port 80-81-or 82 (whatever you have BI setup to use, is open}

I just found that whatsmyip.org has a box to click and will do the same.

Brilliant (and totally forgotten) point!
It has been so long ago I forgot there are router settings for port forwarding on mine!

I think the webserver / remote wizard will even take care of this. I will have to check this later today.

Thanks for everyone’s responses and jogging my memory.
