SUMMARY

BI V5 has been running near flawlessly for 4+ years.
About three months ago I started to get some D drive storage problems, not being able to access the disk on occasion.
Then the BI Host PC started to randomly shut down.
Did some testing on the storage disk and determined the disk was bad.
Replaced the WD Purple 4TB drive with a new one (partitioned with a header).
Cleaned out the inside cavity of the PC.
Updated WIN 10 Pro.

Disk access has been normal with the new drive, but the Host PC is still randomly shutting down.
The PC can run from 2 to 60 hours before shutting down per a log I’ve kept.
The shutdown can occur anytime of day. No particular time or activity.
BI is recording continuously for five cameras
BI installed on a C: drive SSD. All data is stored on D: drive.
BI software was never updated since the original install in 2020.

I’m not a tech whiz so I need the forums help in how to troubleshoot this problem.
Thanks in advance!

Is the fan on the CPU heatsink running well?
Are the CPU heatsink fins clean?
Is the heatsink bonded well to the CPU?
Thermal paste not dried out or heatsink-to-CPU clamps not lost pressure?

Is the power supply fan running well?
Is the power supply clear of excess dust?

@TonyR - Thanks for the reply and suggestions.

When I cleaned the dust out of the box I removed the fan on the CPU heatsink, cleaned all the fins on the fan and heatsink.
The PC was running a lot quieter afterwards.
I recall it used to be noisier at times when the CPU was working hard. I don't hear that now as often as before.
As a test, I did run the PC for a week with the cover off to monitor noise, the fans and to see if the box would run cooler. No change - same shut down frequency.

Is the fan on the CPU heatsink running well? YES - I THINK SO
Are the CPU heatsink fins clean?
YES
Is the heatsink bonded well to the CPU?
NEED TO CHECK
Thermal paste not dried out or heatsink-to-CPU clamps not lost pressure?
NEED TO CHECK

Is the power supply fan running well?
I BELIEVE SO BUT WILL RECHECK
Is the power supply clear of excess dust?
YES
