So I found this pc for 300 bucks. I am going to be using between 5-10 cameras (dahua starlight models), with the possibility of 1 PTZ.

HP EliteDesk 800 G1 Tower-
Intel Quad Core i7 4770 3.4GHz-
1TB HDD-
32GB DDR3 Ram-
Windows 8.1 64-bit

Is this pc sufficient or am I better off to keep looking for a higher end i7?

The other question I am trying to figure out, is do most people throw other HDD in their BI pc for recording to? Or do most buy a separate system for saving the recordings like a NAS?

TIA

That will work.

Is it just going to work 'okay', or pretty good? I don't want to waste 300 on it if I should just spend a bit more and get something with a better cpu.

I ran 22 cameras on an i7 4770 3.4GHz and it ran well; I didn't have any problems. But get an i7-6700 box with the OS on an SSD which will run even better.
