BI Update from website

I've noticed that there is a webpage on the Blueiris site that has a link to the latest update 5.9.9.0:

My BI is currently at V 5.9.3.4.

I was wondering if I can just download and run the file from the link to update my instance of BI, or do I need to update through a maintenance licence?

If you do not have a current support agreement, your BI install will go into evaluation mode if you try to install the latest version, if you have a current support agreement then either method will work!

Thanks for your reply. If you were to attempt doing this and it goes into evaluation mode, can you then enter in your licence key and it will work?

Sorry, I'm just asking this because there is nothing on the update page that says you shouldn't attempt to do the update if you don't have a maintenance subscription.

If you go into evaluation mode, the only way to remove it is to either pay for another year or rollback to the version just before your original license key expired.

The bigger question is why are you wanting to update?

Is there something there that you want or need?

Many of us once we find a stable version for our system we do not update until they add a feature we want or need.
