Updated to v5.0.4.4 late last night,.. noticed it was continually restarting.

Thought it sorted itself out and went to bed.

Today am noticing continual connection errors (via the iPhone app over VPN) and a log entry quote regularly stating that the 'Restarted after unexpected shutdown', or similar.

Had sent an email to support last night (no response yet).

Has anyone else successfully gone to v5.0.4.4 ?

Anyone else seen this ?

Is there a way to roll back to a previous version ?

Jim.....

I've since trashed all recordings as well as the DB folder,.. same behaviour.

Went through a simple uninstall/reinstall with no change in behaviour.

Next step for me might be to export settings, uninstall, rename the registry, trash the folder structure, install fresh and import settings.

Have left it on red-shield for the moment as it filled the disk as it missed its file moving housekeeping tasks, hence why I decided to trash all recordings.

It had been running along without issue for several months until this update was applied.

So tried a few things:

Pre-requisite: Export Settings

Scenario 1
Stop BI service
Uninstall
Trash DB folder
Install (with Visual C++ - repair)
No difference
Red shield no difference

Scenario 2
Stop BI service
Uninstall
Trash DB folder
Trash c:\program files\Blue iris folder
Trash registry
Install (without Visual C++)
No issue with no cams
Import settings
Same problem
Disable all cameras
Same problem

Scenario 3
Stop BI service
Uninstall
Trash c:\Blue Iris folder
Trash c:\program files\Blue iris folder
Trash registry
Install (without Visual C++)
No issue with no cams
Manually re-create all cameras
No issue

So all seems good again,.. need to go back and adjust some settings and redo the motion detection/zones etc,.. a bit of a PITA,.

A little annoyed about the whole process, won't be clicking on the check for updates button too quickly moving forward.

Guess I could go back and delete all cams to see if its something in their settings or the server settings, but i'll leave it alone.

So it looks like it's related to a setting on one or many of your cams?

If you have a registry export of the cams you could try importing them one at a time to see if which cam(s) are causing the issue.

No help to you but I upgraded to the same version without any issues.

I think Blue Iris makes a few registry backups by default (not sure when or how many it keeps). They are long-gone now but if you had loaded one from before it got corrupted, you probably could have skipped the nightmare of reconfiguring everything.

I suggest you get bp2008/biupdatehelper as it will back up your update files AND your registry.

Updated to v5.0.4.4 late last night,.. noticed it was continually restarting.
I had same problem updating, had to reload twice then had to reconfigure everything from scratch, still tweaking now. As soon as i reloaded reg file it crashed, was showing over allocation errors too. All up and ok now after 5hrs. :banghead:

How do you do this?
  1. Stop BI
  2. Open regedit
  3. Navigate to 'HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Perspective Software' (I think that's the path as I'm not at home)
  4. Right-click 'delete',.. or 'rename' to preserve it if you want to go back and review

FWIW I don't think it's an issue with camera settings, but instead BI settings. Because I exported the individual cameras and imported them into an a clean install with no issues.

Yeah that's what I was leaning towards.

Looks like biupdatehelper might be a useful addon.
