Blue Iris over a VPN.

We bought a ho e for my mom which is a couple of miles from our house. We both have AT&T fiber, with us have 1 gig synchronous and my mom’s at 300 Mps synchronous.

I will be installing a UDM at her house and we have a UDM Pro. Currently there is no computer at her house so I would like to hook up two IP cameras to the UDM which will connect to our UDM Pro over VPN, add these two cams to my Blue Iris and monitor them from my house until she arrives in about a month.

What are all of your thoughts?

Two cameras should be fine. They'd pull <<<<20 Mbps, and any decent hardware VPN should be capable of many times that.

I have two Protectli FW4C boxes ($249/each) running a Site-to-Site IPSec tunnel between them, over 1000/1000 links, and I'm getting >> 500 Mbps, sustained. Your Ubiquiti boxes should be capable of way more than enough throughput for 2 cameras.

But bring a computer to your Mom's first, and do an iPerf test to a computer at your home, over Ethernet, to verify.
