Blue iris running but cannot enter interface: error message

BI5 running for over a year. After a reboot can't get in the interface any more. But still runs, can access through blue iris phone app.
Error message is in dutch, "c:\program files\blue iris 5\blueirisadmin.exe"
"Een verwijzing is geretourneerd door de server". In English this is "a reference was returned by the server".
Tried to run in as admnistrator, same result.
Tried repairing and reinstalling
Kinda stuck on how to proceed.

a quick check of the WWW for the error message returns a number of possibilities... none of which are related to BI.

most are around policy/registry settings that are (likely) creating the issue. have there been any recent additional software or updates applied prior to the reboot and error appearing?

may be worth running a scan (or two) of your system to ensure its integrity, then do a search on "a reference was returned by the server" and check the settings which are typically creating the error.
