BlueIris.exe only starts on 2nd attempt

When I start BI via BlueIris.exe, either interactively or via task scheduler, the first attempt to start BI exits immediately without errors or any UI appearing. On the second startup try, it works normally. This flip flop happens every single time. I am running Win7 logged on as an admin user account. Has anyone seen this behavior? Any ideas?
 
So if you have BI running, close it, then open it (once) a moment later, it doesn't appear?

Thats odd. Watch task manager for any blueiris.exe process.
 
I have seen it if you are running as a service. The console will not open the first time.. It has been a while since I ran it as a service, so I could be confused.
