So this afternoon, BI lost connection with all my cameras which is a mixture of Dahua and Amcrest. I can ping each camera and login to their interface. I rebooted the BI PC with no luck. I noticed the CPU Utilization was 100% so I stopped/restared the BI service. This seems to have fixed my issue but I'm wondering what would cause this. For reference, I normally run 15%-20% utilization with 12 cameras.

Did you happen to look at task manager to see what was using all the cpu resources, its really hard to speculate as to what caused the problem after the symptoms are gone with out a few clues!

Yes, it was BlueIris that was 99% utilization which resolved itself once I stopped and restarted the service.

What version of BI are you using, there have been a few versions that have had issues with memory leaks some time ago, but I have not read any reports lately, is your system set to do automatic updates, if so I would turn off that feature and stick with the stable release's?

5.3.0.3 x64 in which I have been running for several years now. Right now things appear to be stable so maybe it was a fluke thing. If it happens again then I will purchase the update plan to get the latest version.

Yes I would say that if this only happens once in several years you could easily just live with it, but that is up to you! The current release is "5.9.9.14"; your version "5.3.0.3" was released on "Jul 13, 2020", there have been a lot of changes to BI since then, I am not sure if it would be advisable to do an in place upgrade, you would probably need to do a clean install and completely setup BI again!

Since my last post, I have upgraded to the latest version of BI which did not resolve the issue. I received the following from BI support which so far may have resolved my issue.
  1. Run the service with your own Windows admin account, not the generic one.
  2. Make sure the BlueIris.exe is exempt from all antivirus process scanning ... see the Help for examples.
