Blurry images when viewing small images, fine when big

I have a Blue Iris setup with a number of old lower quality cameras and a few 5 MP Amcrest cameras.
On the 5 MP cameras, the image quality is great when I pull the cameras up individually.
However, when my monitor is in its normal view with about 16 different cameras showing on it, the images from the 5 MP cameras looked pixelated, almost like BI can't figure out how to jam that much resolution in a small space.
Is there some sort of smoothing setting I am missing?
Thanks,
Darrell

Are you running substreams?

In multi-camera view it uses the less CPU intense substream and then goes to mainstream when changing to single camera.

You can go into camera GUI and up the bit rate of the substream. Or up the substream quality, but too much and it can defeat the purpose of the substreams.

In that case then either your system cannot keep up OR at the smaller size you just happen to have tough field of views that simply changing the size a bit can resolve it.

For example a few of my cameras have fences in the field of view and when the image is made smaller it looks like a mess because it can't resolve the spacings in the fence at the smaller size.

We have also seen a lot of complaints with the 5MP cameras when in multi-view. Something about that MP and sizing seems to be problematic in multiview.

There is no 5MP on the ideal MP/sensor ratio and that may have something to do with it.

I appreciate the information. I tried adjusting the aspect ratios with no luck.
However, adding the substream did make the difference. The images look good now.
Thanks again.
