Hello there,
I have a DS-7608NI-E2 NVR and at this moment I have nothing to do with it, so I was thinking that with some help, I can build a 8TB NAS (2X4TB hard drives).
Ages ago I did something similar using an NSLU2 and following this tutorial: https://www.cyrius.com/debian/nslu2/
Basically how this worked: short version -> they altered the original firmware to load Debian from an hard drive
and the long version -> https://www.cyrius.com/debian/nslu2/boot/
What I was thinking:
1) alter the original firmware
2) use one usb port for an usb to sata adaptor (I have a 16GB SSD hard drive and I want to install Debian on it)
3) use the 2 internal 2x4GB hard drives in RAID
What I was able to do:
1) extract the cramfs.img from the digicap.dav using hiktools05R1
2) mounting the cramfs.img revealed 6 files
Does anyone have any idea that will help me further with this project?
Thank you
