Bullet vs. wall-mounted turret

Hi,

I have bought a bullet and a very similar turret cam:
  • 1x IPC-HDW5442T-ZE
  • 1x IPC-HFW5442E-ZE
Initially I wanted the turret directly next to the front door, but now having both cameras in front of me, I am a bit surprised at how much larger the bullet is in size.

Is there a real advantage of the bullet vs. the turret that I‘m missing (generally or for those specific models)? And in terms of problems with sunlight, anything to take into consideration as the bullet has a small sunlight visor? The camera will be facing south, south-east and is just 2,3 m high, i.e. facing almost horizontally, hardly downward.

Thanks!

Two additional points: the bullet often has much better IR than the turret, and the bullet is often more precise when adjusting. Since your cameras are facing south/east, you will only have a slight problem with the sun in the morning. As an example, this is my bullet about 6' above the ground (horizontal position) and you can see how the sun affects the image with the sun visor. The problem with the sun doesn't affect the image for too long.

Regarding the specific two models, the differences seem minor to me. Yes, the bullet has 4 instead of 2 IR LEDs, but my distances are not too long and the main thing I want to cover is the front door, which is right underneath. So seems to me at least for this scenario and these two cams, I can simply decide either way based on what appeals more to the eye…
