I have Blue Iris 5 latest version running on an I7 4th gen (8 logical cores) and cpu rendering unfortunately. Don’t have gpu available.
I record 24/7 and have low res motion detection set up in zones. My cams are 5MP at 6fps with H265 and they are Amcrest dome cams. I have 3 of those. CPU hovers at 3% or so unless I’m viewing them through the mobile app, then it rises to about 10%. I record direct to disk on an SSD to BVR format with no overlay.
When a cam detects motion and I open the app to view the stream it will temporarily disconnect and show a black screen and even the recording skips that portion if I play it back.

I’m thinking it may be interrupting the motion detection and the cpu doesn’t react well to it causing the recording to stop.

Maybe the new feature of using a sub stream for motion detection could help? Just looking for other’s experience and input.

I'd try H264, plain old H264 not "+", first to try to isolate the problem then goon to the substream route.
