I've been posting over in the NVRs,DVRs & Computers forum (NVR or DVR with slow Internet) trying to better understand how these systems are accessed when running local without internet service. I need a system that will allow video feeds and alerts to show up on my Iphone while connected locally to my LAN. I know enough to configure my own router, access points and and outdoor enterprise (ubiquiti) WiFi network but I'm unclear exactly how these systems work locally.
I am considering the Hikvision DS-7616NXI-I2/16P/S NVR. Have not yet picked cameras yet and my plan is to run direct bury CAT6 to each outside camera. I have some camera locations that will be 150'-200' from the NVR. Have a friend who installs security systems and he is trying to steer me away from NVRs in favor of analog DVR but from what I've learned so far, this doesn't seem like good advice if I can get full local access without internet service and also configure dual low resolution streams to feed while I'm away and using my slow upload high latency satellite internet service.
I hope cross posting in multiple forums isn't a problem. Thanks.
