Hello all

Just purchased a Hikvision DS-7616NI-Q2/16P 16-Channel 4K UHD NVR to replace a Lux technologies 4 channel that was installed by a local company in 2017, but is now out of business and has no support. There are currently 3 Lux technologies dome style cameras on the system that I plan to use for now but would like to upgrade these cameras and add additional over time. We live on 5 acres outside of town in a 2 story home - semi rural, with neighbors on all sides.
I would like to keep camera cost around $200 each or less and I am asking if you could provide some model numbers for review/suggestion that meet the suggested performance criteria:

2MP on a 1/2.8" sensor or larger
4MP on a 1/1.8" sensor or larger
8MP on a 1/1.2" sensor or larger

If there is a camera that is slightly higher in price that I should consider please also advise.

Thank you for your time

All of these fit the criteria and are known to perform well.

Thank you for the response. I have been looking at some of those models. Any major issues using the cameras from Andy with a Hikvision nvr ?

I'd suggest sticking with Hikvision cameras on a Hikvision NVR to get the most out of the cameras and NVR. That said, I know that Dahua NVRs will work with any camera that uses ONVIF and I'd expect that Hikvision would be able to as well. Some features of the cameras may not work when mixing brands however.

After reading through the threads - I RMA’d the NVR and picked up an i58500 off of ebay to go the direction of BI.
Can anyone advise on their experience of adding an NIC (comparability of certain third party brands) ?

Thank you

Good call! I was just doing the math on your NVR, it lasted 5 years then they went out of business. That happened to me with my LaView NVR. 5 years later they went out of business as well. Been on BI for about 2 years now and am so much happier! Have fun!

Thanks for the affirmation - felt kind of burned that the original nvr folks (Lux technologies) seemed to disappear without notice along with the installer - thus no support….and then saw that the Hikvision nvr I purchased new was already eol and would be a crapshoot which non Hikvision cameras could be utilized.
