Camera not streaming, if internet access for device is blocked

Hi there,
I bought a cheap chinese IPcam which identifies in ONVIF as HD-53NV1080HSD. As long as I don't block the internet access of the camera in the router, everything is working fine. I connect from surveillance station via ONVIF to the camera with the local IP address. But as soon as I block the internet access for the device, the connection is lost. I assume the streaming is stopped, because the camera itself is reachable via webinterface at the local IP address.
Has anyone any idea how I can convince the camera to work without internet access?

Thanks in advance

Many consumer and/or cheap cameras do not work without an internet connection. Instead of building things like motion detection in the camera itself, they rely on the stream being sent to the servers and processed there.

do you think, switching off some features would avoid this loop and make the stream work locally?
