Out and about
Noob alert. I purchased a PTZ with 20x zoom, long range IR etc some years ago just before I moved house, didn't get used, wanting to use this camera now, got it out of the box and plugged it in but unable to see on network. Set up laptop with standalone router no internet etc., plugged in, it can be seen by the router user interface but only reports an IPv6 address and mac address. (192.168.1.10 on label, no idea if I ever changed it) I have pulled it apart looking for a reset, can't find, is there any way to access the cam interface to try reset or is there a hope for getting back it's ipv4 address, or are the Chinese crappy electronics just saying buy again? I haven't managed to get access to the entire board, quite difficult the way it's been assembled.

It probably has an IPV4 address that could be in a different subnet than your router. It also could have a static IP address, devices with static IPs may not show up in your router's list. You may be able to access it using IPV6.

There are programs like angry ip scanner than may be able to help. You may need to try assigning your computer static IPs in different common subnets. You could also try "arp -A" in a command prompt and see if the camera's MAC address shows up. Also watch out for IP address conflicts if it has a static IP, you router could try to assign that IP to something else.

You might be able to switch ipv4 or the ipv6 on and off inside the router settings. ( on some models)
or use a really stupid simple old ass router to get it started.
maybe you'd get an ipv4 address assignment from said router if it were connected to the internet.

It's likely more important that you make sure your PC has an IPV6 address that should be able to reach the camera IPV6 address (it may if you haven't disabled IPV6 as a workaround to some stupid windows issues). The router could also assign your PC an IPV6 address.

Thanks, yes I have Advanced ipscanner and arp doesn't show it. It shows up in the router, but no ipv4 anywhere.

Scan a different subnet like 192.168.0.*, 10.1.1.*, or 10.0.0.*. You could also try a /16 or /8 (with a 10. network) subnet on your PC with a static IP to scan more IPs at once. Most consumer routers will only allow /24 networks (netmask 255.255.255.0), but you can do what you want with static IPs if you're just trying to scan the network.

You also have to consider the possibility that the camera isn't powering on / working. Does it get warm when it's on? Spin around on boot? IR filter click on boot? Does the link light on your switch turn on?

Please keep us updated, I am in the same boat. pulled out a old hikvision ds-2cd2810f today.
Only get a IPv6 with the mac address. Nothing picks up with SADP or HIK webserver.
Have tried to hard reset. DHCP from various switches and POE switches/injectors, different cables. Stand alone connections to pc.
Manually assigning IP's and every subnets ive used previously.
power light is on, Can hear it click when covering the light sensor.
But either just a Green stable light or Green stable with orange flashing light depending on subnets.

I'm guessing the only thing left will be to research how to try tftp into it.
