Camera selection help

Hi there,

Im looking at putting a very cheap but functional camera in my garage just to be able to check if my garage doors are closed when I leave the house. There's nothing worse than driving away wondering if we closed the doors when we left. I already have a POE line set up in the garage I just need the camera now. Any suggestions or reccomendations for a camera from China that will serve this purpose?

I know you want THE BEST camera...but I'm equally certain that you don't want a "cheap" camera -- instead -- I'm reasonably certain that what you want is an inexpensive camera @dellins. And, IMO, an inexpensive camera for the application you have documented would be one of the hacked Chinese Region Hikvision turrets. Here's one for $71.00 (with free shipping to the USA) from an AliExpress seller with a decent reputation. However, don't ever attempt to upgrade the firmware of one of these hacked Chinese Region cameras. This store also sells Dahua cameras which many other here will recommend in place of the Hikvision units.

Personally I installed self closing garage opener (there is even an app) which is more money but it's one less thing I need to worry about.

There are other alternatives which are less expensive such as this. I used it before and it was easy to install. I think the price was around $50

Thanks for the response but Im looking for a camera more than a device to close the garage. The camera will serve 2 purposes, 1 to record anyone walking in the garage and 2 to see if the doors are open.

We are really close to our neighbours so they would be able to close the doors for us if we ever need them to.

That BeSafe BS-BH24S200-POE camera is actually a rebranded Longse LBH24A200. It may be a good choice also.
