Hi All,

Ive struggled to find something suitable but perhaps the collective can assist.

Looking for a Vandal/IP rated camera for outdoors under the eave of my garage with as much FoV as possible as I want it to look left and right down my lane to monitor the garage and sliding door to the left of the proposed camera location.

Any suggestions? I have Wifi/POE available and it wouldnt be in direct sun/rain.

THank you!

A lot of people here including me will tell you to go with a Dahua starlight or ultra camera series
Also widest FOV while it may get you a lot of coverage area, it may not get you an identifiable image. It would be best to use more than 1 camera with a narrower FOV pointing more directed at the access points of concern.

Most folks buy their Dahua stuff from forum member @EMPIRETECANDY (Andy). He has a shop on AliExpress and he ships via DHL all over the world. He’s been pretty active on the forums here since late last year, helping folks order stuff, as well as keeping the forum up-to-date new Dahua stuff. If you’d prefer not to order via his Ali store, shoot him a message (this forum calls them “Conversations”), and he might be able to bill you via PayPal (if you guys use that in Australia).

Given theres no turrents with the Ultra sensor, whats the next best thing? Bullet?

I've never really looked at their Ultra cameras before now, but it looks like the "minimum illumination" spec differences between the Ultras and the Eco-savvy ones is minimal.

Ultra (vari-focal dome):
0.005Lux/F1.4 (Color,1/3s,30IRE)
0.03Lux/F1.4 (Color,1/30s,30IRE)
0Lux/F1.4(IR on)

Eco-savvy (vari-focal dome):
0.006Lux/F1.4 ( Color,1/3s,30IRE)
0.05Lux/F1.4 ( Color,1/30s,30IRE)
0Lux/F1.4 (IR on)

If the Ultra is "outstanding", the Eco-savvy looks like a close "excellent". Unless the Ultra line does more for the money I'm missing (which is very possible!) I'd be inclined to go with the Eco-savvy (so you can get turrets). They've been the most popular Dahua models since they came out late last year.

If you do go with the Ultra, I'd guess a bullet would be the next best thing? I think you mentioned vandal prof. Depending how low you have the bullet mounted, folks might be able to jump up and move it.

Dahua or Hik the range is huge and so confusing. Is there really a need for so many different cameras? Is the difference between most models really that noticeable? I've seen a few screenshot comparisons of different models and the difference has been minimal at best.

Yeah the range is stupid, far too complex.

I think ill just buy another 2 x 5231R and be done with it.
