I have a Lorex D841A8B HD DVR. The manual says that I can "Connect Lorex HD or standard analog cameras".

I have a number of older analog cameras that I'd like to connect to it. I notice that the supplied cameras have a much heavier siamese cable than my older cameras are using. Ihave 2 questions:

1) can I hook up my older analog cameras to this DVR? (will they work?)

2) Blue Iris is fine handling the older cameras through another connection. Will the resolution through the Lorex be any different?

Thanks

The older DVRs (and newer NVRs for that matter) have a rated resolution that it can accept, so as long as the older analogs are of a resolution less than what the DVR can handle, it should work. Quick search says that it can handle up to 4k, so I doubt your older analog are better than that.

The resolution should look the same provided the DVR can handle it.

thanks. I was worried that the newer 4K unit might have a minimum resolution and that it might not like the lower resolution cameras.

Thanks
