Can I connect my alarm in and out cables together?

Hi, i have just bought a dahua 3 in 1 camera and am currently setting it up to work with synology surveillance station. Unfortunately I cannot activate the siren and police light functionality on ss but ive found that i can send an alarm through ss. My camera has both Alarm in wires and Alarm out wires. In the settings of the camera there is an option to sound the in-built siren and lights on an alarm. I am assuming that i can connect the wires together and get an alarm to trigger in the camera when i press the button on ss. But that didn't work. Anyone know how to do this or if it would even work? Any help at all is appreciated.

u need to wire the alarm in/out wires to external devices.
Does your synology has alarm out connections? you can wire it to the alarm in of the camera if it has one and if you know how to.

else u can also trigger the built in siren and flashing like by calling http api command

do a search in the forum. also read this thread for some examples of the implementation
