Can I use 12TB in Dahua 5216 NVR?

I know the spec sheet says up to 10TB capacity.

What happens if I stuck a 12TB capacity hard drive? Would it work? Would the NVR only write up to 10TB LBA range and not use the remaining 2TB ?
