Chinese camera update is a myth?

Hey All,
Im moving to new house and have couple old HDBW4431R-ZS cameras.They are work pretty good for last couple years. Just wonder is there any possibility to upgrade them to fresh firmware? I have dahua NVR5232-16P-4KS2 and currently this camera connected to it. In ideal situation it will be great to update those cameras to latest "hacked" Chinese firmware. Not sure if it can be done somehow... Another option which I get in mind is to upgrade those cameras to original Chinese version and do all configuration through NVR itself. Any ideas?

If you're using hacked cameras, leave the firmware alone. Don't upgrade the NVR either, newer NVRs will refuse to connect to hacked china region cameras.

If you have an older firmware version you can upgrade to 2.420.0000.21.R from the first post in this thread https://ipcamtalk.com/threads/dahua-firmware-mod-kit-modded-dahua-firmware.13102/. This is the only ready-to-go download I'm aware of. I've updated the 4431R-Z with firmware from this post, but it's a different download so I can't give any first-hand report. The updates I did went smoothly and work great.
