Hi all

New here, was wondering if anybody knew if there is a way to clone a IP camera?
Reason i want to do this is to test an application i am making.
Which scans for the IP camera's and reports back the amount found and create sets.
I only have 2 camera's to test with but would need more to verify everything works.

So basically the clones would have their own IP.

Thanks

Clones?? Maybe something didn't translate right? Cloning physically like in 3D printing? Not sure I understand?
If your looking to scan a network looking for all Axis cameras, Axis.com has a free utility call IP Utility that will do that.

lol no. I mean clone it network wise.
Have 2 cameras but have them use multiple IP's.
So for example camera 1 - 192.168.50.1 but also uses 192.168.50.2 etc...

IP addresses are the easy part. Each camera has a unique burnt in MAC address, you'd need to somehow spoof that, ie not easily done.

OK, got it now. But, just wondering, why would you want to do this? Multiple devices can view a camera with one IP address.

Well I am working on some software.
And i can use up to 32 cameras.
Though the application is scanning a certain range and creates sets(inside and outside camera)

So if i was able to pull this of without having 32 cameras at hand it would allow me to test it properly.

Do you need 32 virtual axis camera's ? Or are virtual onvif devices also fine ?

IP Aliasing on a Linux machine (even a Raspberry) and routing all of then to the IP Cam should do it, no ?
(Oh sorry old Thread o_O)
