"Combine or cut" doesn't combine clips - am I missing something?

I'm evaluating BlueIris to see if it fits my needs and I'm liking several parts of it but there's one thing I just can't seem to get working (or may have a flawed understanding of):

I have 8 cameras, all set to continuously record. The "combine or cut" option is enabled, with a cutoff of 4 hrs or 4GB. I have random blips in the feed from a few cameras, either because they are flaky and randomly reboot or I have wifi drop outs. Blue iris seems to be making new clips whenever this happens and the camera comes back online.

Shouldn't it be doing the "combine" part of the "combine and cut" and merge these together? I will check in after 10 hours and see one flaky camera has dozens of ~3 minute clips instead of one continuous clip of merged video. I expect to see the timestamp jumping whenever there's a dropout.

Am I misunderstanding what "combine and cut" does?

I want large videos that show the camera feed that I can scrub through. If there are dropouts, I want Blue iris to merge the various clips formed during the continuous recording period.

look in the manual perhaps.

Yes, I have read the section thoroughly, but confusion still persists:

The Combine or cut video option exists to combine events into fewer files when recording when triggered, but it also cuts video into segments for the other recording modes.

This phrase seems to imply that combination only occurs when triggered, but since I'm recording continously, no combination will occur?

Also:

By default the software does not record video when there’s a “no signal” or “inactive” condition displayed. Of course, there’s an option to override this.

This phrase seems to imply that I can just "keep the recording going" when there is no signal, meaning the video shouldn't break into smaller segments, but that is not what happens.

My question still stands: How can I have Blue Iris record the feed from each camera, breaking it up into say, 4 hour segments, but NOT breaking it up into tiny clips if the feed dies, just continuously growing the video? Can it even do this?

I dont mess with that feature, so no help here.

Drop back to 1hr cut time, that is easier to scrub for one, and two, you may be hitting the 4GB limit that is set, causing cuts with the current settings, depending on the resolution of your cameras.
If you still want the 4hr cut time, up the 4GB limit to 6GB.

I've tested with smaller time cut offs, same effect. Also these clips are no where near 4GB, they are pretty much laughably small, some as low as just a few MB! (See below)

After messing with a ton of settings I've come to the conclusion that intention of the "combine" is to combine triggered events, not continuous recordings. I suppose I'm ok with it, as I can scrub through the timeline just fine regardless, but I was just surprised that the "combine" feature doesn't really "combine" clips. :(

Yea that's what I saw when I looked in the manual but figured I'd make this post to see if there was a way to combine clips. A few lines down from what you quoted, I got hopeful when I saw this:

This tells me that the recording shouldn't "break" between "no signal" conditions when I have "Record No Signal and Inactive frames" , but it clearly is breaking, so I have no idea what the point of the option is. :(
