Connecting NVR to switch

Hey guys, new to the whole camera set up thing.

I understand the basic is to connect the POE switch with the IP cameras to the NVR and the NVR to the router.

However, my routers slots are all used so would it be okay to connect the cameras to the POE switch, connect it to the NVR and connect my NVR to a non POE switch which is connected to my router?
(POE > NVR > Normal Unmanaged Switch > Router)

Also, when setting up my NVR for the first time and assigning it the IP, does the NVR need to be connected to the router? Or can I configure it through the switch as well

if your router is full its going to be best to branch that off and get a new GigE backbone switch that has enough ports for everything.. take everything off your router and plug it into the new switch, along with the NVR and just have your router branch off with nothing plugged into its built-in switch.. you can still branch off your PoE switch for your cameras if you cant afford a main/trunk switch thats poe and has enough ports for your needs.

since your router is just providing Internet connectivity it will be fine and you will have guaranteed GigE throughput between every port at the same time.
