Controlling an NVR's display via a network connected PC

Hello forum,
I'm wanting to buy a 16 channel NVR which will display the IP cameras views via its HDMI port. The HDMI port will be connected to an HDMI modulator which will add the NVR's display as an extra TV channel. I want to be able to control what the NVR is currently displaying (such as switching between single camera and multi camera views) via a PC on the same network. Is there an NVR available which will allow me to control what it is displaying, either by an API, installing some software or whatever?

Thanks Tony, but, sorry I've gone through all those Hikvision ISAPI manuals and I can't see any command where I can influence what a Hikvision NVR is displaying on its monitor. Am I missing something?
