Do Dahua AI NVRs need algorithm updates, just like the 5442 series cams do, where you have the firmware update in 2 parts, main firmware and algorithm firmware? Or is it just a single firmware file for the NVR?

only single file, they have AI update inside...
only 5xxx-S2 and 7xxx-X have 2 stage firmware update system (2 separate file update) due AcuPick, which were added after both camera were released and original firmware on those cams couldn't accept new firmware with much more extended AI algorithms database..
