I updated dahua cam DH-IPC-HDW2431TP to latest firmware (V2.820.0000000.63.R, Build Date: 2024-08-07) and since then it's constantly resolving the SMTP server, even if it doesn't have to send emails.
It request resolve smtp server around 56000 times a day.
I don't know where to report this problem, I did it directly to dahuatech.com but they tell me to report to my dealer.... I bought from Amazon so reaslly I don't know where to report this!!!
Thanks in advance
Best Regards,

Yikes. Another of the many reasons to keep security cameras on their own isolated network. I don't allow any of my cameras to have a working DNS service, let alone a reach outside their isolated security network. They only get local NTP service. No phoning home!

Still, that is a lot of DNS requests. Does it try to do resolution even if SMTP is completely disabled on the camera?

Along with one of the reasons we say don't fix what ain't broke.

Unless the release notes specifically say it is fixing an issue we have, we see this all to often where the camera was working fine for the person and then they update and it "breaks" what was working fine.

I've got quite a few Dahua cameras on external switches behind firewall appliances on various networks that show ZERO activity for months and months..

Why would they offer an upgrade on an older camera - that is what new cameras are for as they aren't making money off of you with an older camera.

Spend enough time here and you will see weird things with firmware updates.

Unless the release notes specifically say it is fixing a problem you have, you are gambling. Especially now with there being so many different firmwares based on the chip in the camera.

Fortunately you could rollback. Some cameras don't allow that to happen.
