Dahua DMSS push notification fiasco

Hey guys. So it's been a year or so and my system "NVR5216-16P-4KS2E" NVR with an assortment of Empiretech Andy's cameras has been working more or less good. My front door camera was giving me push notifications to DMSS on my phone along with another camera that I wanted. The other two cameras would flash trip wire when crossed but not push to my phone. Frustrating, but I had the two important cameras working and even though I followed as much information found here as I could find, it always was glitchy and fixing one would cause another problem, so I left it as it was and everything was ok.

The other day, I had a spiderweb causing the camera to send notifications every other minute. Since I was away, I decided to turn the notifications off via DMSS app on the camera causing the disturbance. I noticed this caused the other cameras to stop sending notifications and I can't seem to get them back on.

I'ts been a a while since I have logged into the cameras and I can't remember or find the old PSA or instructions I used here to set this whole thing up. I think I remember doing everything through the cameras themselves and they would push to the NVR.

Is there a current PSA or best practices for these setups?

Thanks in advance.

Cheers,

On a PoE NVR, the NVR does the push not the individual cameras as they are on an unreachable net of 10.1.1.x. I believe its all* or nothing with the notifications, at least mine is.
(*All being every camera you set up in DMSS to receive notifications, which have to be enabled individually in the app.)

I have two cameras that send push notifications and both work fine. I do NOT have P2P enabled on the cameras, just the NVR
P2P on the NVR must be enabled AND you must be logged into the Dahua account on the DMSS app on your phone

If the spider web was making the camera send notifications every minute, are you using MD? Typically IVS will do much better in ignoring that, but sometimes shit happens we cant control

Hey @bigredfish , nice to hear from you again, and thank you for the response.

Regarding the spider web.... It is interesting, I have noticed that I get false alerts from what I am guessing is light reflections. For instance, sometimes the IPC-Color4K-T180 front door camera will give false notifications just in infrequent headlight window reflections. When I was getting the spider web, it seemed to be the IR spider web glisten i'd guess. It was very apparent in the video replay. And the web was 6" off the camera and blowing in the wind.

Thank you for the refresher on the order of operation with the POE NVR setup. I remembered there was an order, didn't remember what it was. I will poke around and try and figure out what is going on.

Also, I can't remember, do we like SMD or IVS. I had a tripwire set up on my camera settings and I can't find it. Don't remember if it was SMD or IVS

Cheers,

Maaaannnn, This whole thing makes no sense to me. After dinking around with settings and a few resets, the 2 of 5 cameras that I care about getting DMSS phone notifications started working again. If I log into my NVR via web browser and search for events, it has "most" of the tripwires detected on all 5 cameras, but the other three cameras don't push to the DMSS app. It is a mystery, but at least the 2 I want are functioning. Thank you @bigredfish

Each camera/channel you want alerts for must be setup individually in DMSS app under "Multichannel Alarm Subscriptions" to push alerts

IVS= tripwire
SMD = an overlay of old fashioned MD and detects ANYTHING in the entire scene no matter what you have it set for

If you are using SMD you will have A LOT more false alerts than if you were using IVS/Tripwire

HOLY SHIT!!!! This was it!!! Thank you @bigredfish . Out of curiosity, 2 Cameras I want to have notifications always on. The other 3 I would love to get but only from like 1am to 5am, Would this be set up through DMSS? or would I set it up in the camera web browser. Another thing, are we still only accessing these through legacy windows explorer? or is Chrome working yet?

Truly appreciate it man.

Cheers,

You set the IVS tripwire in the camera, and set the time (Period) it’s active for. On the 3 others just set the IVS rule for 1-5am

Then in the app, select each camera/channel and associated tripwire under Multichannel Alarm Subscriptions

Some cameras still need IE for certain functions but Edge works for 95% of them
