Hi,

Just got my brand new dahua hdw4231 and powered it with 12v dc adapter. Specification says that it can also be powered by PoE standard 802.3af. Most of the PoE switches (I'll be using several cameras) are specified as either 24V or 48V. Does this mean they are compatible with my camera or not?

Thanks!

802.3AF standard is ~48VDC; if its outputting 24V its not 802.3AF and likely a Ubiquiti PoE

Power over Ethernet is a generic term meaningless on its own as there are many competing implementations; its the 802.3AF/802.3AT Standard (PoE/PoE+) that you need.

Thanks. From Dahua website:

Power Supply:
DC12V, PoE (802.3af)(Class 0)

So 48V is safe to use. Thanks!
