Hi I am having trouble initialising Dahua IP cameras. I use the config tool and can find the camera. When I go to initialise it relust with a failure notice "Network Error, Maybe Timeout"
I am on the same network range 192.168.1.xxx as the cameras default 192.168.1.108. I cannot access the camera via the web as it is not yet initialised, nor can I ping it. Any advice greatly appreciated.
See attached video as the the exact steps I am taking and where it is failing.

TIA

What happens if you hard reset cam, then open browser like IE11 or Palemoon 32 bit to 192.168.1.108 (no port entered, defaults to 80) ?

On a new or hard reset cam, going to 192.168.1.108 via a browser, it will ask you to set time, country, time format etc and then ask if you want to use P2P (no for now) and whether you want automatic updates (again no) and set a password and your email

Then it will take you back to the login screen - make sure and login and change the IP address to something else on that network (192.168.1.200 for example) because each subsequent camera will use .108 as a default

You say you can't ping it or see it from a web browser, so I think you are not on the same IP subnet.

The default IP address of the camera is 192.168.1.108, which may or may not be the IP address range of your system.

Here is how most of us set it up:

Unhook a computer or laptop from the internet and go into ethernet settings and using the IPv4 settings manually change the IP address to 192.168.1.100

Then power up your camera and wait a few minutes.

Then go to INTERNET EXPLORER (needs to be Explorer and not Edge or Chrome with IE tab) and type in 192.168.1.108 (default IP address of Dahua cameras) and you will then access the camera.

Tell it your country and give it a user and password.

Then go to the camera Network settings and change the camera IP address to the range of your system and hit save.

You will then lose the camera connection.

Then reverse the process to put your computer back on your network IP address range.

Next open up INTERNET EXPLORER and type in the new IP address that you just gave the camera to access it.

OR use the IPconfig Tool, but most of us prefer the above as it is one less program needed and one less chance for the cameras to phone home or for something to get screwed up.

Thank you all for your fast responses:
Yes plugged camera into POE switch, Switch lights showing activity when camera plugged in.
Lan cable from camera to swtch also tested ok
Only thing currently plugged into the switch are my laptop, BT router and the camera.
Hard reset done on Camera. Laptop on 192.168.1.100 ip address.
Tried to browse to camera via IE 11 - NO JOY
Tried to browse to camera via Pale Moon - NO JOY
Ran Network scanner to detect all devices on my network which should result in just Laptop/Router/Camera but camera not appearing.
Ready to pull my hair out!

Did you hard reset the camera? Using the button under the trap door of the camera and holding it for 30 seconds while plugged in?

It can take a few minutes to come to life after..

What is the gateway address of the router? could it be on something like 192.168.0.1?
just because laptop is switched to .1.100 doesnt mean it will connect..
Check your routers DHCP assignments, maybe the cam has been given a diff IP address.

The wholemotherfcuking network would have to be on a 1.1 with a gateway address of 192.168.1.1to automagically log into an unitialized cam residing at .1.108
