This camera is my porch camera and its a Dahua IPC-HDW4631EM-ASE

The right hand side leads up to my gate and yeh I know I need to trim those trees they are getting a bit dense but they are not that bad

I think One thing is I have positioned the camera to try and get best of both worlds to see people walk up to my gate on the right and on my porch which is bottom left

At night it triggers and alerts in BI both those zones but during the night it does a bad job

Here is a video of me walking past from the gate ( far right arrow) then up and down the side walk but BI did not trigger or show an alert

My detection settings in BI are in the screenshot. I increased the senseitivity but unsure if I should do anything else as its just night time is the issue

Probably nothing to do with your issue, but is this camera a PTZ, I see that you have "Extend trigger with PTZ movement" checked? If people are walking to the right of those trees, I would think that it is going to be hard to detect them at the very edge of the cameras view (Just my thoughts)!

Hard to know where to start…

From most obvious
  • trying to do too many things with one camera and none of them well
  • your two highest priority zones are at the very edges of the FOV and almost pitch black lacking any illumination
  • IR is being absorbed by trees and shrubs severely limiting effectiveness for sidewalk (3rd priority zone)
  • very weak camera with very undersized sensor

Would recommend rethinking this scene and using at least 3 cameras for front door, sidewalk, and path to gate with more current camera technology using 1/1.8” sensors

The area is too dark, camera can't detect the people walking at that area.
Like bigredfish said the IR absorbed by the trees, and make the other places very dark, this camera's low light capacity is nomral.

Thanks guys
Yeh I think its an old camera and cant handle it
I am going to buy another 2CD2387G2H-LISU/SL
I have one its been really good

Then I have another camera spare which is Dahua DH-IPC-HDBw1431EP and will put that right at the front door

Also this camera that I have current that isnt performing well is showing alot of double circles in the blue iris UI every few mins
Can anyone tell me what that means please?

I got a new camera Hikvsion 2CD2387G2H-LISU/SL

I replaced that with the holder Dahua one I mentioned earlier
The tree's still obscure the path to my gate which is where the arrow is pointing here:

Now even with this new camera it was not detection motion all the time and alot of the IR is absorbed by that closest tree still. Maybe 3 out of 5 times in that far right hand location. I think the tree's have just grown too tall and cover alot of the path . Those tree's will only get taller as the years go on
So for now I have decided to turn the camera and focus more on the front porch untill I get a third camera for the porch:

Now I did take a wide angle shot just with my phone of where I would install a third camera to see the porch and possibly see the path leading to the gate but again alot of it is blocked by the tree's

I guess there is that small little clear section of where the black chair is which is basically just where my gate is. Id have to test this setup once I get another camera there
