Dahua Motion Detect Question

Greetings members, new Dahua user needs help!
I have a camera set up for motion detect and I can see that it is detecting motion perfectly though (I set it up to display a message which works, it also overlays a picture of two figures on the screen) when reviewing recordings I can only see the continuous recording(green bar) and no motion detect (yellow).
Ideally I only ever want to record on motion detect.
How can I disable continuous record?
How can I get motion detect to record and show up in the timeline?
I have set the motion detect region 1 to cover the entire image.

Hi Scalesr1,

You have a separate NVR or a camera with SD card?

You should select also recording schedule for the motion, in the NVR storage-schedule-and choose also motion for the period you want (usually 24/7). You can run continuous record and motion record same time and then motion is marked
as yellow on the timeline.

Hello and thank you for your reply. I now understand that separate schedules are needed for motion detect, currently have MD only and not continuous - just what I wanted.
