Dahua NVR 4416 settings view & camera IP address

Hi

I've been searching around for ages and can't find anyone else that has had this issue. I'm new to IP cameras and have managed to finally access my DVR via internet explorer mode and the IP address. I understand you need to do this to access the full camera settings. I have two identical Dahua cameras up and one appears a slightly better image, and has a different 'quality' level on one of the settings, so I am assuming I need to access some more detailed settings, as I have no option to change it where I an see it.

To check I'm doing it correctly, my DVR has an IP address starting 192 which is consistent with my other devices, but the cameras have an IP address starting with 10. I initially thought I had to change this, but now I think that's how they are meant to be, please correct me if I'm wrong!

This issue now is shown in the images below which show the full height and width of my screen minus the URL bar at the top and taskbar at the bottom. I appear to be getting the block of images over the top of some options, and have been trying for hours to get them out of the way, they don't allow me to resize them or drag them across.

Does anyone know what I can do, could it be something to do with resolution? as the bottom picture shows the block disappears off to the right beyond the screen.

Many thanks...

I have a NVR with built in POE and it auto assigns the camera IP with the 10.x.x.x and that’s what it should do. I am not certain on the picture issue.

Yes, a POE NVR places the cams on a private subnet all their own to isolate them from the Internet and with Dahua they're generally in a 10.X.X.X subnet.
Most LANs are on a different subnet, 192.XXX.XXX.XXX being the most common and the NVR's LAN should be on that subnet. Yours is as you indicated.

When bringing up the NVR's embedded webGUI there should be a menu selection (where I believe you also initialize/add cams) that shows a big blue "e" which when clicked on launches a browser to open up the camera's webGUI (not the NVR's webGUI) so that those cam configurations you speak of can be done.

Thanks for the IP confirmation, I don't recall seeing a blue 'e' I wonder if that's a feature of the later software, but I will have a look for it tomorrow, now that I have something to look for.

Thanks again

The camera registration page is where you will find the Blue IE buttons that allow you to open the direct camera interface. Make all of your image settings there not using the NVR UI

That weird shift in the window is browser plugin related. You need to use real IE or you can use Pale Moon 32bit for 90%+ of features.

Hi
I think that's the newer NVR software which looks a bit more straightforward than mine which is a 2016 build model, and looks like the picture below when viewed directly on the NVR, and still different to yours on the web interface, not sure if I can update it, or if I am that brave, although I'm not convinced I've managed to connect directly to the cameras yet, as from reading other peoples posts I came to the conclusion that accessing the DVR via IE or similar wasn't enough to access the camera settings, does this sound right?

Thanks for the pointer on plug ins, I will see if I can get a real IE or try the other program you suggest.

Thanks

Do NOT use the direct machine interface of the NVR as shown directly above. Use the NVR Web interface

Show us a screencap of your camera registration page

here's the older 2016 era web interface

@countryside34 , you stated in your OP "I'm new to IP cameras and have managed to finally access my DVR via internet explorer mode and the IP address. "

That infers you are using the NVR's embedded web server, also known as a "webGUI" (Web-based Graphical User Interface) as you should be in order to access the blue "e" on the camera setup/registration page as I instructed in my post #4.

....I came to the conclusion that accessing the DVR via IE or similar wasn't enough to access the camera settings, does this sound right?
No.
You follow my suggestion in post #4 and subsequent ones from BigRedFish and you can reach the camera's webGUI via the NVR's webGUI by using the big blue e.

Thank you both, I feel I am edging closer to a solution!

I think that is correct in that I have logged into my DVR via it's IP address in IE mode of Microsoft Edge (will be looking at other browser options later)

My web interface look like what bigredfish has posted but I am missing some options - see picture below...

I don't appear to have the 'config' tab or the 'registration' option could this be because I am logging in under an account I created when I set up the NVR, would logging in under an admin account make any difference? The issue here is that I don't know the password, I've tried 'admin' but it isn't correct and I only have one try left!

I can still access the remaining old footage from my account so was assuming the user account wasn't the issue.

Thanks for your help

Yes probably. The admin account should show this.
Look under System, do you have access to users?

Yes I can see all the registered users in a list, and appear to have the power to add/delete so thought I had the correct controls, I originally logged in under a '888888' account Which I though was also a master account.

The pic below shows my account permissions which are the same as the admin account, I've just been through and all accounts are set up with the same permissions.

I think I may have to admit defeat and leave the cameras as they are!

I assume the cameras are plugged into the NVR direct, and have IPs like 10.1.1.x ?

On an older circa 2016 NVR I used to be able to plug my laptop into one of the NVR Poe ports and it would assign the laptop a 10.1.1.x address which allowed me to connect to the camera GUIs directly with their IP addresses …

Weird there’s no visible way to connect to them..

It is strange indeed, I will try plugging in the laptop, and see how that goes. Otherwise I will leave things as is, it would be nice to have a play, but the pictures are good with the settings I have on the 2 cameras I've installed, and the zoom lens gives a much better setup than my existing system.

This whole thing has been a steep learning curve, but worthwhile, thanks everyone for your advice :)
