Dahua NVR connecting to Hikvision Camera but not displaying image or recording.

Camera DS-2CD2012-I
NVR: 5232-16P-4KS2

I created a user on the Hikvision camera for the NVR. I added it to the NVR as onvif camera, got a green dot. It detected the stream parameters correctly (1280x960 h264) but doesn't show any image when selected.

EDIT FOR FUTURE REFERENCE:

Changing from multicast to TCP solved this issue.

Could be as simple as your browser. Try IE or Edge in IE mode

What protocol did you use? Try ONVIF

Thats what i've got it set up with and it gives me the green dot saying its connected. Just no video. There's video on the Camera's web UI so I know its not a browser issue.

And the camera login/pass is same as the NVR?

Usually when I see that Icon on the black screen, its a plugin or browser issue not allowing the video to load, vs a problem finding it

Hmmm... outta ideas, not very familiar with using HIK cams with Dahua NVRs

No, the NVR has its own login to the camera. This has worked for me with other cameras with this NVR. And the NVR can clearly log in since if I make a change to say, the camera's name, in the camera webUI that change shows up in NVR (and vice versa, I can change characterstics of the camera set up via the NVR)

Is the camera connected to any other NVR or Nas etc?
Something else pulling down the streams from the camera?

I have a camera here that would connect fine on both my nvrs but would only display on one of them.
It took me longer than it should have to figure out it was because the camera could only output 1 stream per channel (main and sub).

Failing that, I have an annke camera here (rebadged hik) and for rtsp mode it is set to custom.

Try that.

Nothing else is connected to the camera. When I'm in the Live view page and wait a while ocassionally a message will pop up saying (limited resources cannot display video) but I checked the incoming network connections and its nowhere near the max traffic (300mb/s). I even tried unplugging a 4mp camera to see if I could see this 1.3mp stream and same message.

One of the reasons why we strongly suggest/recommend to match the brand of the NVR and the cameras. Just because they are ONVIF doesn't mean they will work together.

Limited resources pops up when there is a network bottleneck somewhere in the system.

I have 5 Hikvision cameras working fine with this Dahua NVR. There should not be a network bottle neck. I have 13 cameras between 2-4 megapixels connected to this NVR, the NVR is connected via GbE to the switch. The switch which is fast ethernet with gb uplink is rated at 40Gb/s switching capacity. The NVR says it has "320 Mbps for access, 320 Mbps for storage and 320 Mbps for forwarding" which by my calculations should be way less than I'm using

is there a way to diagnose where the bottle neck is from the NVR?

edit: this is from the bit rates, they bounce around some (except for 14 which is the camera in question) but just eyeballing them, they don't seem to cross 100mbps muchless 320.

Is the router in between the camera switch and the NVR?

In other words, if you unplug the router, will your NVR still get the camera feeds?

If the answer is no, then the router is your bottleneck. Even a 1GB router is known to be problematic using it as a switch.

No, the router is upstream of the switch. Its acting as a DHCP server but that shouldn't be a bottleneck.

It does act as a switch from the camera switch to the switch attached to the server running Scrypted that accesses this camera just fine

We have seen strange things happen.

For kicks unplug the router and see if the problem resolves itself.

We had a member here once where he did that and it fixed the problem and somehow the router was trying to route the data that wasn't passing through it.

I guess I can try that later, it involves me going and unplugging and replugging network cables and changing VLANs which are bound to certain ports, so it's a bit of a PIA. The router says its its sitting at 3% cpu load and the technical specifications for switching and routing are way above my current uses.
