Dahua NVR issues?

New member, first post! Sad that it has to be asking for help..

I purchased two Dahua HDW5831R-ZE cameras and a Dahua 5216 NVR from EmpiretechAndy (on Amazon). This was Aug of 2020. I finally got around to running my CAT6 cables for the cameras and doing a preliminary fire up.

The NVR powered on, the TV displayed ‘NVR’ for several seconds, then the TV said ‘No signal. Ensure that the device is turned on and properly connected to the TVs input.’ I tried unplugging the NVR, unplugging the cameras, etc. I never got anything past the ‘NVR’ screen. Help!
 
It sounds potentially like your TV cannot handle the resolution that the NVR is sending to it.

Try to log into the NVR thru a web browser - open up Internet Explorer and type in the IP address of the NVR. Then set it up and change the output resolution.

Solved! It seems to be some kind of compatibility issue- the plasma just doesn’t like what’s being sent. I believe the LCD tv is the same resolution, but quite a bit newer?
I was able to begin the basic setup on the LCD. Thank you for the help. I’m sure it won’t be the last time! Wittaj, I owe you a beer!!
