what does "the maximum hdd capacity varies with environment temperature" mean?

looking up the hdd specs for my NVR4104/4108-P-4KS2...

1 SATA III port, up to 10 TB for a single HDD. The maximum HDD capacity varies with environment temperature

thinking of getting a 10tb western digital purple model WD101PURP. will things work properly?

is there a hard limit on the max size of drive you can install?

I have a 16 TB Seagate IronWolf on a NVR5116-16P-4ks2E without problems. The specs have the same disclaimer.

Its not so much temperature that kills drives but high humidity causing condensation in the internal components. If your NVR is going to be in a controlled environment, I would not think twice about it. Now If its going in a wash bay or car wash, I would expect early failure of your NVR or Hard drive, I have replaced NVR's in Truck was bays. Same with computers in rough environments like body shops or old school automotive shops, cleaning those suckers out 4 times a year full of black hairy gunk.
