I have 6 WiFi cameras, Amcrest and Dahua. I've used a QNAP TS-251, and Synology DS718+ for recording. I don't like the surveillance software on the Synology, and it sometimes fails to record when a camera indicates motion. The QNAP surveillance software is better and doesn't miss recordings, but it's a real low-level model, and really slow for browsing and viewing recordings. So I'd like to get a dedicated surveillance system, and leave the NAS drives just for storage.
I've read lots of posts here about Blue Iris on PCs, and dedicated NVRs. I think I'd prefer an NVR. One that I'm looking at in my price range is the subject Dahua X82B2A, with a proper hard drive.
I don't know how to look at the specs and determine whether this NVR will handle 6 cameras (1280x720 10fps) via Ethernet connection to the WiFi router, and be responsive when I want to view recordings from my PC via WiFi. I'd also like to use motion detection on the NVR rather than from the cameras, so I'd like to know how well that works.
So, I welcome and appreciate any comments or suggestions on this. I don't want to buy it and set it up and find it's no better than what I have. I'm technically adept, so it's fine if something like this is complicated.
Thanks for any feedback.
