I have 20 cameras. The majority are 4 MP at 15 FPS. I don't use Deepstack AI, instead I use the camera's AI and use ONVIF triggers. I'm currently running BI on an older Dell OptiPlex 3010, specs below.

I found this PC for sale and I'd appreciate input. Thanks!

As long as it's not the "Mini" version and the CPU is not the "T" suffix I'd go for it.

I appreciate the input. I'm hoping it'll help with performance. My current PC is recording all cameras 24/7 and idles around 35% CPU. When 2-3 cameras trigger at the same time, it spikes around 80%. I also notice that UI3 displays the orange clock fairly often when playing back alerts/clips using a wired LAN connection.

I just received the new PC. I’m going to use for my set up. It had a fresh install of Windows 11 Pro, what’s the recommendation, should I use a local account or my Microsoft account as the account running BI? Thanks.

Local.
And uncheck tips and tricks, turn off inking info, set to use picture not spotlight on background, turn off animations, don't update other MS apps...so much crap that MS turns on to get into your business for marketing purposes, too....especially a MS Account!

Thanks for the reply. I'm planning on removing all Microsoft apps if that's possible.

I was able to get my new BI PC set up today running in eval mode while I confirm all settings etc. before entering the license and making it primary. The new PC shows that BI is using between 5% - 8% CPU in 24/7 record mode during non-triggers. The old PC uses 25% - 30% with the same settings. I'm pleased with the improvement and appreciate the help.

Putting my new BI PC into production today. I have it licensed and running as a service using the local admin account. When I try and launch BI console, I get this message. What am I missing? Thanks!

Here's the icon I have pinned to the TaskBar

I don't believe that a program pined to the task bar can be set to run as administrator, just put a shortcut on the desktop or in the start menu and it will work!

I had something interesting happen sometime overnight where this new PC shut down. I looked in the Event Viewer and I didn't find anything. Is there anything else that comes to mind that I could look at to try to figure out why the computer powered itself off? Thanks

Mine did that for a couple of consecutive days after I did the latest Windows update. Not sure why. Hasn't since. Maybe something else updating in response to the larger update that caused it. :idk:

You can check the power settings to see if something changed there. I might just leave it alone for a few days before spending time digging into things.

Been reading what I can on this. I do have the power setting at High Performance. I've read that may sometimes cause random shutdowns. Would like to find a way to get a notification when/if it happens again. Was hoping I could do that with my Unifi setup, so far I can't find a way. I'll keep an eye on it closely. Never happened in the many years I ran Windows 10.

Not sure what Unifi provides as far as watchdog-type monitoring for devices on the net. I use Uptime Kuma to monitor inside and outside hosts which works very well but kind of a lot to set up. If you have Home Assistant running it's a fairly easy add-on.

perhaps a BIOS setting is allowing sleep states?
and as you know, the BI settings also mention something about power settings.
My pinned program icon will open the console without an Admin pop-up.

I think I may have found the issue. Apparently, there was a power "blink" that caused the BI PC to lose power. It did not restart automatically because it wasn't set to do so in the BIOS. Made that setting change and fingers crossed, it's going to be a non issue moving forward.
