Digital zoom with video?

I've been using BI for about a month now and it seems (for me) to handle Motion detection far better than my native Hik software (and IVM4200) ever did wiht my 2 cams. . It seems I can catch a lot more if not virtually everything and at whatever speed. I use it outside my home with my my ANPR cams. I should have been using it years ago I guess! Anyway down to business

I wondered if anyone knows if digital zoom can be achieved with paused video files? By this i mean back on my Hik software i could stop the video and use the little magnifier icon and draw a box around my point of interest (usually number plates) and it would zoom in and enlarge the area. I don't see that kind of feature for zooming in and drawing a box to enlarge in the video playing panel on BI unless i've hopefully missed something? Can anyone who might know tell me if this is something that is possible with a paused video file in BI please?

It seems I can only get zoom while working with an image (and not a video). If i want to zoom in on a number plate on a video i currently grab an image from it and then i can zoom/enlarge it.

thanks

Yep, simply scroll the mouse wheel.

Can do it live and on recorded video.

Or if on a tablet with UI3, just pinch or expand two fingertips.

yeah that would work but I wondered can you select a small area (like draw a rectangle). With scrolling in guess it would be the middle of the image just getting larger and not a targeted area like i'm shooting for, if i've understood you right.

Re' the tablet i see what you mean but am not using a touch screen/tablet set up currently.

That is correct - just have the mouse cursor near where you want and then scroll

thanks Looney but it was just a specific that someone would either know or not in avoidance of burrowing for a while but thanks for your input.

@wittaj: i didn't have any luck with clicking the pointer and trying to evoke a zoom with my keyboard with touchpad without having a mouse or using control and arrow up after selecting but all worth a try.

The old way i was doing this i've attached a video of and i don't think there is a similar option I can see on BI but it's not a biggy as i'll figure out what works best for me in time no doubt. The vid just shows me selecting an area and zooming in twice and actually makes for a worse image (ha) but that doesn't figure as it was just to show the action.

You are right, Same here in my case.

I got it working using my touchpad eventually but by bringing 2 fingers together instead of spreading them apart. That works for me with my mouse less setup. I click on the area of interest and then bring 2 fingers together and boom I was zooming in.
