Does camera video metadata work across equipment brands?

For example, if a Dahua camera captures video metadata, say a person with a red shirt. Would that metadata be searchable using a Hikvision NVR that also has the ability to search by top color? I understand that there wouldn't be any guarantee, but I'm trying to determine if it's out of the question, likely to work, or somewhere in between.

Very doubtful, but newest NVRs may ?

Specialty metadata would not carry over as it is proprietary for the manufacturers ecosystem. So Dahua metadata would not be understood by Hikvision NVR. Now there are some 3rd party VMS that would have special profiles for specific brands. There is a chance that this would somewhat provide a good chance but I haven't seen one that really does it for metadata. Seems to only provide better compatibility for adding a camera to a system like a NVR or VMS software.

Most of the time when you add cameras across different platforms then you would be adding them in using ONVIF. ONVIF profile M and T would be what you would be looking for listed for both the camera and recorder side. Whether or not the camera and the recorder both implemented the full specs of the ONVIF profile is a different story so you may have certain things that work and others that don't or isn't recognized as far as detection and metadata.
