Dome vs Turret for front entry?

I'm going to install some cameras and have everything set except front entry. It's my folks house and they have a motion light on the front porch that gets quite bright when activated. So would a turret with the IR turned off be better than a dome? I'm using 4mp Hikvisions.

why turn the IR off? the more light the merrier.. dont try to reduce lighting in any way.. dont care how bright that motion light is.. the only reason to disable IR is if its being overtaken by bugs constantly.

depends on how your going to install it, I like bullets because they fit on off the shelf junction boxes easier.. turrets need a bigger box w/bigger footprint.. but if your not mounting it on a box, well then the turret is likely the winner from an install perspective.

It's a long entry way and I have a area that I can mount a bullet to capture video of someone walking up to the door. Unfortunately the area this will be mounted doesn't capture all of the area right in front of the door. I still want to add a dome or turret right at the top of the door as extra security. I was going to use a dome but started reading about turrets working better in these instances.
So a little off topic but where would a dome be better than a turret?

indoors in a public space.. and thats basically it.. when you have an actual need for all the bull shit the vandal resistant dome introduces and a controlled environment w/out bugs/weather/uv.
