I purchased a NVR4216 off ebay for $100. It fits 4HDD so should work fine. The firmware is English only and a bit dated. I've tried half the firmware files on Firmwares without success. It's not a major loss if I can't upgrade, but figured I'd try before configuring the unit.

Answering my own question, I was able to load the DH_NVR4XXX-4KS2_MultiLang_V4.001.0000005.1.R.201126.bin firmware onto this device. It works great - especially happy I don't need the plugin to view streams.

If you don't mind me asking, what cameras are you using with the NVR? Do ONVIF cameras still work after the firmware upgrade? What about international Dahua cameras?

I'm thinking of buying one of these for my brother's system but he has a mixture of cameras, some ONVIF, a couple of Amcrest 5MP's and a few non-upgradable Dahua cameras. It would be nice to know how compatible it is before and after upgrading the firmware.

what cameras are you using with the NVR?
I used Amcrest and Loryta (Dahua). I don’t think you lose any features with the newer firmware.
