Any one tried and had success with an ethernet splitter so I can add another remote camera without a complete new Cat 6 run? Tried "POE Combiner Splitter Adapter, Run 2 IP cameras on 1 Cable" from the IPCamStore on Amazon. Tired others brands and no luck. Can get one or the other to work thru device but not both concurrently. Would prefer not to make another long run thru the attic.

Strange because the first one you suggest is what I just tried. 2 jacks to one Y at 16 port switch the combining to one then pack to 2 some distance away before connecting to two separate cameras and then being able to log into both of them. I will try again. Let me know if I understand correctly the item and hookup. Thanks

Does your 16 port switch have enough power to power the additional camera? Just because it is 16 port doesn't always mean it can power 16 cameras. Total power budget and power consumption of the cameras can impact that.

How far is the distance? What is the make/model of the cameras and POE switch?

Did you try the A-B slider on the splitter? Did you have the ends on the correct side?

This is the end that goes to into the POE switch:

I have that one running now.

If I recall, I had to plug one camera in and wait till it connected then plug the 2nd one in

Wow, I wonder how the one with the mod A/mode B switch works? To work with mode B that uses all 4 pairs, there must be some kind of circuitry inside the splitter at the switch/injector end. Maybe that explains why it's on the expensive end of the non-switch splitters. The weatherproof connectors are a nice feature.

Thanks.

Tried again and eventually I got both cameras up. Using a Netgear GS116PP with 183 watts. Will be running 2 more cameras for a total of 14. Currently test setup has all of the ethernet runs of only 4-6 feet. The middle feed will actually be up to 150'.

Now that the cameras are capturing images I am noticing about a 5 second latency on viewing the image. Seems longer than what I have elsewhere. Also video cuts/blacks out about .5 seconds every 10 seconds. I just got these cameras and haven't looked at any internal settings. It also takes multiple attempts to get into the cameras directly via IP to make settings. Eventually I get into the menu and likely need to configure something there hoping that solves the problem. Not sure what basic settings to change since it has been a couple years since last done. I will look at the old and new camera settings to see what needs to change hoping it solves the issue once into the camera.

Also tried the passive splitters from Amazon. They did not work and were sent back.

Did have success with the $28 dollar active splitters from Andy. (Empire Tech Mini Passive 2 port POE Switch) So far working well with low temps in the range of 0 F and lower for a ground mounted outside switch.

I use a few of cheap ebay passive splitters and a few DIY. They all work ok.
