I've noticed this every once in awhile for the last six months. If you reboot the computer the problem goes away only to appear again in a few days. Same result if you rebuild the DB. I've been on BI Release 5.5.7.11 since it's release date but had not noticed this issue prior to 6 months ago. It's a 10TB drive with size limited to 8700GB.

And, I waited 5 mins without doing anything then checked again and now it shows the following. Is it normal to see this back-n-forth?

Then a couple of mins later I see this again.

It's almost like BI has filled up the disk but before deleting the oldest footage FIRST to make some more room it gives this error THEN deletes the oldest footage.

Have you designated the entire drive to BI?

You should save around 10% to account for record/delete at the same time of the oldest video.

So an 8.5T drive, you should only allocate around 7.7TB to BI.

Yeah that is one folder, what about the other folders - are there any other folders that is saving images or video? What are the Alerts, Stored, and Aux folders storage set to? Maybe there is an overallocation when summing up all the drives?

STORED not used. ALERTS 1GB then delete. AUX was never modified as I don't use those folders but I see the default for all the AUX as follows. Not sure why that is the default.

I’ve seen this before with my setup.

What is happening as far as I can tell is that with BI writing the current video file(s) and until it closes the files it temporarily goes beyond the stated storage allowance on the drive hence the warning but as soon as it runs the task to manage clips and delete(s) older clips then the total size of the recordings falls within the allocated allowance hence the warning disappears.

This obviously only happens once you have enough recordings to use up all of the space that you’ve allocated. Hope what I’ve said makes some sense

^That was going to be my next response is that it is simply a temporary issue as the deleting of oldest and recording of newest is happening.

Per above, thanks for confirming what I had speculated. Was surprised I didn't see anyone else mention this. Guess I didn't search hard enough.

Or maybe you have been the only one that happens to see that screen at that exact moment that they are recording and deleting at the same time!

Yeah, I should have worked in QA. I always find weird things that are missed by others. My parents have a codeword name for me: The Inspector. Because I'm always pointing out quality issues I see. It annoys them. LOL
