External Microphones for Amcrest

I can't seem to get external microphones working with any of my Amcrest Cameras. Has anyone done this and what can they recommend for microphones?

I am sorry to hear you are having issues with connecting an external mic to your cameras. Can you tell us what model/brand of microphone you are using? The 941/1051 should have 2 Aux Jacks on the back. One for Audio In (external mic) and Audio Out ( External Speaker). The T2499EW has a built-in microphone. Do you have these cameras setup by themselves or through an NVR?

I finally got it working - I needed to add batteries - and play with the settings on the mic to dial in the right level. It's better than the onboard mic, but still not really great quality.
